Nam Mokwunye
Senior Consultant and Technology Transfer Strategist

As Senior Consultant and Technology Transfer Strategist, Mr. Mokwunye contributes substantively to Vital Wave Consulting’s complex research and end-to-end commercialization projects. He is an accomplished entrepreneur and an expert in mHealth and capacity building, especially in technology transfer and localization. Mr. Mokwunye has 10 years of experience with strategic business development and management in both the Fortune 500 and start-up environments in American and Emerging Markets, including Ghana and Nigeria.

Mr. Mokwunye was a principal author of Vital Wave Consulting’s recent maternal and child health research engagement with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Ethiopia. For another recent engagement he conducted technological and programmatic assessments to provide strategic recommendations for strengthening and scaling a maternal and neonatal health (MNH) call center intended to support community based providers, PPMVs, pregnant women and/or new mothers and their families in an African country. He has also served as the lead investigator for the health sectoral study that Vital Wave Consulting is authoring for the eTransform Africa initiative of the World Bank and African Development Bank, to explore the potential for ICT to transform the health sector in Africa. In addition, Mr. Mokwunye has designed and managed the development of mobile-enabled social media platforms utilizing J2EE, PHP, mySQL, JAVA, Javascript, and Hibernate.

Mr. Mokwunye holds a MBA/MFA from University of Massachusetts in Amherst where he was a Flavin Fellow. He was a Reuters Digital Vision Fellow at Stanford University and spent an additional three years as a visiting scholar on ICT in Africa at Stanford University’s Center for African Studies. Mr. Mokwunye is a Pop!Tech Fellow for social innovation. His undergraduate degree was awarded from Dartmouth College.
