Senior
Economist
Vital Wave Consulting is seeking
a Senior Economist to assist with the development of a
market model that calculates addressable market data for a
range of technology products. Working in tandem with a small
team of global consultants, analysts and research
assistants, the Senior Economist will design the algorithms
and other mathematical models and calculations driving the
market model. The Senior Economist will also develop
processes for performing numerous regression analyses that
will feed into the market model.
The ideal candidate will
be comfortable
performing several of
the following analytical
functions:
- Define end-to-end process to build a series of
mathematical models/calculations for the market model
- Develop algorithms that produce results according to the
models/calculations defined
- Design statistical methodologies for use in the model,
as determined by the project team. This could include
multivariate regressions, price sensitivity analysis,
correlation analysis, conjoint analysis and cluster analysis
- Work with a primary research director to design
statistically-significant surveys
- Addressable market calculations
Required
qualifications
- PhD in economics (Post-doc in micro-economics
preferred), mathematics or statistics. Candidates with a
master’s degree and 10+ years of applied statistics
experience in a market research setting are also invited
to apply.
- Strong statistical modeling skills
- Significant experience with conjoint analysis and
related software packages (e.g., Sawtooth)
- Strong knowledge of statistical best practices
- Familiarity with computer science and SQL databases
- Strong proficiency with Excel and other MS Office
applications
- Superior quantitative skills with the ability to
use quantitative skills to solve business problems
- Ability to work remotely and interface with global
virtual team members (possibly at odd hours)
- Strong interpersonal, communication and client
service skills
- High degree of motivation, flexibility and
creativity
- Ability to “wear many hats” and thrive in an
entrepreneurial environment

Salary
or Salary Range: Initial contract at competitive
rates. This position is a full-time consulting position for
two-to-three weeks during October with another two-to-three
weeks required in December/January. Contract positions may
lead to additional contract work or a permanent position,
pending mutual interest and performance.
