Internship:
Vital Wave Consulting, the leading global research
and consulting firm focusing on information and
communication technologies in emerging markets, is seeking
four (4) summer interns to support selected client and
internal projects. Interns will have varied duties depending
on their interests, training, background and experience. One
intern will assist the marketing and business
development team with sales support. Another intern
will work with Vital Wave Consulting’s project architect to
define and catalog research methodologies and
project scoping processes. Two additional interns
will provide research support for internal or client
projects. These projects may be focused on any
aspect of the IT or telecommunications industry and focus on
one or more emerging-market countries or regions.
The ideal candidates will have appropriate skills and
experience for the specific role(s) to which they are
assigned. The methodology and research interns should be
familiar with both quantitative and qualitative research and
analysis. They should also have facility with academic
research engines, an interest in emerging markets, great
attention to detail, fluency in English, and the ability to
work remotely.
At Vital Wave Consulting, interns are tasked with
meaningful, mission-critical assignments that provide solid,
résumé-building experience. Research assistants must be able
to work quickly and efficiently with high attention to
detail. Interns report to company executives, senior
analysts or project managers and may work closely with other
researchers.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Candidate for MBA or similar graduate-level degree
- Ability to take initiative with research and analysis
- Prior consulting experience a plus
- International work experience or cultural background
preferred
- Foreign language fluency
- A background in econometrics or related quantitative
field
- Excellent qualitative secondary research skills
- Persistence in locating hard-to-find data
- Strong quantitative skills
- Experience in database development or population (SQL
queries)
- Interest in data analysis and a good eye for identifying
trends and correlations
- Skilled with Microsoft Office applications
- Creative and able to find solutions to complex problems
with limited information and time
- Candidate should be available 40 hours per week for a
minimum of 10 weeks
Location: Flexible (working remotely is
acceptable). Vital Wave Consulting headquarters are in Mountain
View, CA.
Salary or Salary Range: Unpaid position. Travel
and other expenses for mandatory meetings or client projects
will be covered. Option to move on to paid projects, pending
mutual interest and performance.
