As Director of Consulting Services, Brendan Smith orchestrates Vital Wave Consulting’s complex research projects which includes managing primary and secondary research efforts, supervising the collection and analysis of data, and the production of actionable insights and strategy recommendations. Mr. Smith’s broad experience in international economics, finance and trade provides Vital Wave Consulting clients with expert financial modeling and international financial analysis.

Prior to Vital Wave Consulting, Mr. Smith managed client relationships and research engagements in both the technology and financial services practices for a variety of multinational firms as a lead analyst at Proactive Worldwide, Inc. Mr. Smith also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer at a Chicago microloan fund serving inner-city businesses. Mr. Smith’s experience and academic focus on international political economy and development economics provides him with a firm foundation to provide Vital Wave Consulting's clients with insight into political, economic, and technological trends that affect their business growth.

Mr. Smith holds a Master’s degree, with Merit, in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics. His undergraduate degree in Foreign Service was awarded by Georgetown University where he graduated cum laude. Mr. Smith also received a certificate in political studies from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques at Université Lyon II in Lyon, France. In addition to his native English, Brendan is fluent in French and conversant in Spanish.
