Jon Scott
Senior Economic Advisor
As a senior advisor, Jon Scott
regularly contributes his expertise on topics relating
to public policy, economics and quantitative analysis.
Mr. Scott is currently one of the lead developers of
Vital Wave Consulting’s Market Model, an internet
utility that estimates total addressable market (TAM)
for information technology and communications products
based on user-defined criteria. Mr. Scott also holds
extensive experience in financial, quantitative, and
economic analysis of litigation and business disputes,
including damages estimation in high stakes legal
proceedings involving mass tort, intellectual property,
mergers & acquisitions, and breach of contract.
Previously, Mr. Scott worked as
an economist at OnPoint Analytics, where he managed
engagements involving discrimination in federal lending
programs, antitrust in the real estate development
sector, and breach of contract in the chemicals sector.
Prior to this he was senior economist at Risk Management
Solutions where he estimated insurance industry exposure
to natural and man-made catastrophes—including
earthquakes, hurricanes and floods—by pricing
residential and commercial assets. Mr. Scott began his
post-graduate career as an economic analyst at the RAND
Corporation, where he investigated gender differences in
federal R&D grant programs for science and engineering,
the supply and demand for childcare among military
personnel and the predictors of reenlistment and
careerism in the armed services.
Mr. Scott received a Bachelor’s
degree in Applied Mathematics and Rhetoric from the
University of California at Berkeley and a Master’s
Degree in Public Policy from Harvard. He also studied
Labor and Urban Economics as part of a Ph.D. program at
the Massachusetts’ Institute of Technology.
